Biography

L. Geoffrey Morphy is a Managing Director in the Corporate Finance, Transactions & Valuations practice of Farber Financial Group.

Geoff’s practice focuses on providing value-added financial advisory services to mid-market companies.

A former banker and business owner, Geoff is well practiced in the complexities and nuances of raising equity and debt along with structuring, arranging, closing and managing complex financing facilities. One of Geoff’s specialties is assisting business owners with value creation through corporate strategy, M&A, divestitures, succession planning and exit strategies.

Geoff joined Farber Financial Group in 2008 after 24 years in domestic and international investment banking, corporate finance and commercial finance roles with some of the world’s most recognized commercial, corporate and investment banks. Prior to joining the firm, Geoff was the Business Head of the Middle Market Banking Group in the Canadian operation of LaSalle Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of ABN Ambro Bank. This position was eliminated after the corporate restructuring of LaSalle and the subsequent sale of LaSalle and ABN Amro Bank. While at LaSalle, Geoff, as the Senior Vice President & Canadian Division Manager – Commercial Lending was responsible for creating and building the domestic and cross-border portfolios of their mid-market banking and lending activities in Canada. From 2000-2005, Geoff was a Vice President at Comerica Bank with responsibilities for mid-market commercial and cross-border lending and finance.

Geoff has had the unique experience of being an entrepreneur as well. After more than five years with the head office of Canada Trust, Geoff became the founding shareholder of a financial advisory company offering senior debt structuring, arrangements and placement; mezzanine capital structuring, arrangements and placement; equity structuring and arrangements; merger and acquisition advisory services; and, cross-border acquisition and financial structuring.

Geoff recently completed his Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) certification from the Exit Planning Institute (EPI). The CEPA certification is the only one of its kind offering the most comprehensive professional training available in the area of exit planning. There are fewer than 140 CEPA members in the world. The EPI is an association of professional business advisors assisting business owners to strategically prepare their business for a partial or full sale to family members, management, or third-party buyers.  The EPI leads the exit planning profession by setting the highest standards of education, ethics, and professional excellence for advisors in the exit planning field.
