Hylton re-joined the firm recently after successfully operating and completing the sale of the distribution rights to a fully integrated home-entertainment distribution business. Hylton was with the firm for six years before leaving to start-up this entrepreneurial venture.
While at the firm as a Senior Manager, Hylton managed restructurings of corporate and individual clients in accordance with the Bankruptcy & Insolvency Act (BIA) and Companies Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA), including CCAA monitor filings, corporate bankruptcies and proposals and private and court appointed receiverships. He negotiated and successfully closed numerous sales of companies in manufacturing, food distribution, automotive, vehicle dealership, vehicle leasing, entertainment and other industries. Hylton consulted with corporate clients, secured lenders and others on financially distressed situations, presented solutions and successfully implemented recommendations.
Previously, Hylton held roles in South Africa with a global consulting firm and a leading South African global investment and merchant bank with offices around the world. Of interest, while at the bank, he project managed the implementation of a dual listed entity on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and Johannesburg Stock Exchange; liaised with lead advisors in London, New York and Johannesburg to develop and implement the corporate and tax restructuring in preparation of the listing; developed detailed financial models analyzing the impact on the company’s capital adequacy structure and balance sheet ratios; and assisted in regulatory, tax and corporate information presentations with the Finance Ministry and Tax Authorities.
Working for Credit Suisse First Boston in London, he prepared and analyzed global credit risk reports to Global Credit Committee; analyzed and reported on country limits and exposures and investigated excesses; and prepared and reviewed significant counter-party exposure reports.
As an experienced Trustee in Bankruptcy, with entrepreneurial business experience, and a practiced financial services consultant, Hylton brings unique skills, knowledge and experience to engagements. An accomplished scholar as well, Hylton is the recipient of Cape Society of Chartered Accountants Best Advanced Accounting Prize (1995) and the Cape Society of Chartered Accountants Prize for the best performing student in the Post-Graduate class of 1995.
