Biography

Robert A. Stelzer is a Trustee with Farber Financial Group.

Rob’s practice focuses on corporate insolvency and restructuring, distressed financial advisory services and corporate consultative advisory services and has been involved on a variety of Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and Companies’ Creditors Arrangements Act (CCAA) engagements.

Rob has experience in a number of sectors including automotive, retail and manufacturing where the firm acted as court-appointed receiver, bankruptcy trustee or advisor during a restructuring. Notable assignments include the restructuring of the Tabi International Inc. (a large retail chain) and the bankruptcy of Nexinnovations Inc. (a Canadian IT company).

Rob joined Farber Financial Group in 2008, after spending time with one of the largest building contractors in Canada, where he created financial models for large infrastructure projects under the Build Finance program for Infrastructure Ontario. Previously, Rob worked for Canada’s largest Internet television carrier, shortly after the company completed an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and London Alternative Investment Market (AIM) exchanges.

Rob spent the first three years of his career at a global professional services firm. While with that firm, Rob worked on a number of high-profile restructuring engagements including a large media company and an Alberta-based energy company. Most of the files Rob worked on were CCAA engagements.

Rob graduated in the top 10 per cent of his class at Queen’s University. Rob obtained his CIRP designation in 2011 and is a Licensed Trustee in Bankruptcy in Canada.

Rob is a founding member and currently a committee member of Social Insolvency Professionals (SIPS) networking organization.
