Biography

Stuart Mitchell is a Partner with Farber Financial Group.

His practice focuses on corporate renewal and recovery.

Prior to joining Farber Financial Group in 2006, Stuart was the leader of the financial advisory practice of one of Ontario’s top independent CA firms. Stuart brought a strong history in leading litigation support, turnaround, corporate finance, restructuring and insolvency engagements to the firm.

With more than 35 years of industry experience, Stuart has been extensively involved in leading turnaround, restructurings and insolvency engagements. With his in-depth understanding of the Canadian legal process, Stuart is skilled at providing litigation support through valuation and insolvency analyses, damage calculations and forensic investigations.   

Stuart has played an instrumental role helping companies of all sizes rejuvenate their operations and maximize corporate value. His particular areas of specialization include business viability assessment, turnaround financing and management, operational restructuring, workouts, receiverships, bankruptcy proceedings, and mergers and acquisitions of troubled companies. He is comfortable on both sides of a transaction with extensive experience representing secured lenders/creditors, unsecured creditors, debtors and regulators regarding businesses in financial distress.  

He has been the President of the Toronto Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and has served on its international board. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Toronto Chapter of the TMA and he is co-chair of three subcommittees: Education, Membership, and Annual Newsmaker Dinner. Also, Stuart sat for seven years on the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario Appeal Committee.

Community Leadership

Stuart is passionate not only about Farber Financial Group but also about his personal commitment to the education of children, particularly with social issues such as bullying, school safety, multiculturalism, diversity, gangs, violence, and substance abuse. Stuart has been involved with a non-profit organization called The Concerned Kids for 15 years. The group educates children through interactive puppetry presentations in schools. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
