Position Summary

We are currently hiring a General Manager, reporting to the Managing Partner. The position is responsible for the overall performance of Farber's Consumer Practice (CP). This practice area currently employs approximately 100+ people and spans 50 offices in Ontario and the greater Vancouver area. This role is a growth opportunity within the firm with broad and critical responsibilities cross-functionally. Within the scope of general management, expertise in leadership, strategic planning, marketing and human resources will be critical to the ongoing success of the CP.

As a key leader of the business, take ownership of the annual and 5 year strategic plans and the annual operating plans in order to achieve the corporate plan. Identify opportunities, proactively direct the firm based on market conditions and changes, collaborate and build consensus and generally continue to grow the practice. Manage various teams nationally,
including Regional Managers, Human Resources, Marketing (traditional, digital and customer service) Operations, and Business Development. Lead and mentor these high performing teams, continuously identifying growth and development opportunities; ensuring optimum productivity. Perpetuate the Farber culture of respect and professionalism both internally and externally, building on the importance of community involvement and professional/business association interactions.

Manage Farber’s industry leading marketing function, developing the annual marketing plan for both traditional and digital marketing media, together with the CMO and the marketing teams. Provide leadership on the development of the Farber brand. Bring the mindset of continuous research of market and consumer needs, and pro-actively refine products and
services as required. As the GM, influence and drive future initiatives and operational change.

Education and Skill Requirements

In order to be considered for this role, you will possess the following:

  • Undergraduate in Business Administration, Accounting or Marketing, ideally with relevant post-graduate education
  • Licensed Insolvency Trustee preferred
  • A progressive and successful career, with a minimum of 10 years in general business management, strategic planning and financial oversight delivering on corporate objectives
  • Experience in business development, cross-functional leadership and leading large teams through high-performing executives and senior managers
  • Professional services industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, emphasizing collaboration, and leading-by-example
  • The highest ethical and moral standards and willingness to go the extra mile that represent the Farber culture
  • An awareness of the other Farber business units and a commitment to continuously cross-sell
